Privacy
Hunt:MI is a Michigan whitetail app: you mark where you hunt, it learns those spots, and it tells you when to go and where to sit. This page says what it keeps, why, who else sees any of it, and how to get rid of it. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across other apps or websites, and nothing is sold.
What the app keeps
- Your account: your email address (to sign you in with a link), passkeys if you add one, and your settings.
- Your hunting: the spots, waypoints, land and crop fields you mark; your sits (when, where you sat, the wind, what you saw, harvests, notes); trail-camera photos you log (what and when, never the image); and your plans.
- Location: your precise location when you use the map or "where am I", and during a sit the GPS track of your walk in, the sit and the walk out. The app asks for location in the background only so a sit keeps recording with the phone in your pocket, and only while a sit is running.
- Questions you ask the guide and its answers, kept with your account so answers can be checked and improved.
- Your device: an ID the app makes for each device you sign in on, and a push token if you allow notifications.
Who else sees it
- People you choose. A spot you share goes to the people you share it with, at the level you pick.
- Public-land activity, only if you turn it on. With Settings → Share public-land activity on, other hunters who also share see that someone is sitting on public land and deer seen there, as a 200 m circle moved away from the real spot, with no name. It is off by default; turning it off hides what you shared right away.
- The AI that writes explanations (Anthropic's Claude) receives a spot's coordinates, its waypoints, the weather, the app's scores and your question, to write the text you read. It does not receive your email. Anthropic acts as our processor.
- Public data services receive coordinates only, with nothing about you: the National Weather Service (forecasts) and the USGS / MRLC national land cover and elevation services (what the land is).
- The services that run the app: our hosting provider stores the data; an email provider sends your sign-in links; Apple, Google or your browser deliver push notifications.
Keeping and deleting it
Your data stays while your account is open. Settings → Delete account closes the account at once: every session is signed out and your spots are archived so no one sees them. To have every record erased entirely, contact us at the address below and we will do it.
Children
Hunt:MI is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
