Terms
These are the terms between you and Melodic Development ("we") for Hunt:MI, the app and the services behind it. They are short on purpose. By making an account you agree to them.
What Hunt:MI is
Hunt:MI is a planning tool for whitetail hunting in Michigan. It scores days and hours, suggests a window and a place to sit, and explains why, from weather forecasts, public land and terrain data, and what you log yourself.
What it is not
- It is not the law. Seasons, hours, licenses, tags, weapon rules, land access, baiting and reporting are set by the Michigan DNR and by landowners. Hunt:MI shows what it knows about them to help you; you are responsible for knowing and following the current regulations and for having permission to be where you are.
- It is not a guarantee. A score is a forecast built from forecasts. Deer do what they want. A high score is not a promise of deer, and a low one is not a reason to stay home if you know better.
- It is not a safety device. The map and the GPS track can be wrong or out of date. Do not rely on the app alone to find your way, to know where a property line is, or to decide whether a shot is safe.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 to use Hunt:MI. One account per person; sign in with the link we email you or a passkey you add. Keep your email account safe, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Your content
Your spots, waypoints, sits, sightings, photos, plans and notes are yours. We store and process them to run the app for you and to compute your own scores and recommendations. If you share a spot with someone, they see it at the level you chose, until you stop sharing. If you turn on public-land activity sharing, other hunters who also share see a rough, unnamed circle, as described in the privacy page. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train general models.
Price
Hunt:MI is free while it is in beta. When the beta ends we will charge a subscription for some or all of the app. Before that happens the app will tell you the price and the date, with enough notice to decide. Nothing is charged unless you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel there at any time. If you choose not to subscribe, you can still export or delete your data. Beta features may change or be removed before launch.
Acceptable use
Use Hunt:MI for your own hunting and the people you choose to share with. Do not scrape it, resell it, overload it, work around its limits, use it to harass or track another person, or use it for anything illegal. Do not log a sit or a sighting on land you do not have the right to be on.
The guide and the AI
Some explanations are written by an AI model from the inputs the app gives it. It is told to restate those inputs and to cite them, and never to invent a score or a window, but it can still phrase something badly or be wrong. Treat it as a hunting buddy's opinion, not as fact.
Availability and changes
Hunt:MI is in beta. It may be down, slow or wrong at times, and features may change or go away. We will do our best to give notice of changes that matter. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Warranty and liability
Hunt:MI is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Melodic Development is not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from your use of the app, from a decision you made because of it, or from the data it shows, including land boundaries, regulations, weather and GPS tracks. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which during the beta is nothing.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will say so before the change applies. Continuing to use Hunt:MI after that means you accept the new terms.
